Sleeping in the wet spot

You definitely know that you have totally crossed over the threshold of just you and him into full blown mommyhood when the meaning of sleeping in the wet spot has changed. Face it, you know what I mean when I remind you of back in the day of no children, you had those nights together and you were too elated, in love, and in the moment of pleasure that falling asleep in the wet spot was not of concern.

I awoke at 4 in the morning with our newborn next to me. He had been stirring and fussing for a few minutes and I thought he was just hungry. Just like every 2 hours before then I started to nurse him when I put my hand under his side and realized the bed was wet. I moved him over and he was back asleep within a blink of an eye. Here lies the big dilemma…….I could get up, take him into his room, undress him, change his diaper, redress him, bring him back in my room, change my sheets and because I have woken him up, nurse him for another 20 minutes all of which would probably take away 40 minutes of my precious sleep OR just wait another 2 hours when I have to get up and do it anyway.

Sooooo, I decided to happily sleep in the wet spot!!
